A Gaming Luminary Send-Off

The mighty Stan! is a man of many talents, and fortunate in having so many good friends. Today, shellyinseattle and I attended his going-away party, and (despite the sad occasion) it was a great time. The company was first rate, and I got to catch up with a number of people I don't see nearly often enough. There was a good guest book stuffed with photos and notes from everyone. Plus, Stan enjoys karaoke and really carries a tune pretty damn well. Not to mention his backup dancers during "Addicted to Love" and others were excellent.

Let me just note that Stan was not the only singer, not by a long shot. Chris Pramas, Monte Cook, James Wyatt, Andy Collins, and Charles Ryan were also among the karaoke crooners of the evening. One of them has a great rumbling Louie Armstrong impression while another does a mean falsetto cover of Madonna's "Like a Virgin". No, I won't say who's who. Their song choices ranged from Frank Sinatra, Rocky Horror, David Bowie, and so on.

As you can probably tell, I actually kind of dug the karaoke. But I'm going to miss Stan.

Ah, well. I send a virtual farewell to Stan! and wish him luck on his travels.

As for the karaoke, dude, say the word and I'm there. Really.
