World's Largest Book

The world's largest book, at 5 feet by 7 feet, is now on display as part of the University of Washington collection. It's in a glass case the size of a ping pong table in Suzallo Hall. The title is "Bhutan: A Visual Odyssey Across the Last Himalayan Kingdom", and the author is Michael Hawley of the MIT Media Lab.

I remember reading about it when it was first published a year or two ago, but figured I'd never see a copy. I just stumbled across it on Sunday and at first didn't realize it was a book. The sheer size is more like a piece of sculpture. It's pretty cool technology, just to print and bind something that big, but it's also pretty good photography (or perhaps, Bhutan is just a very beautiful place). Take a look next time you are near the university.

Hi Wolf!

I saw a copy of this at BookExpo America last year. It's incredible to stand before a book that's taller than you.
