White Sox Sweep!

I rarely get caught up in baseball. I like it just fine, happy to go to games. But the team I grew up rooting for, the Chicago White Sox, have rarely been contenders.

Today, they swept the Boston Red Sox, winning 3 straight games in a best-of-five series. The Red Sox who somehow won the World Series last year. The reason the White Sox swept is not so much that the Red Sox are terrible, but that the White Sox roster contains not a single player who ever played for the Chicago Cubs. Conspiracy theory? NO! The Sun-Times explains it all: the Cub-Free Factor.

I expect this completes my sports post quota for the year.

Congrats! We Red Sox fans waited our whole lives for last year. I'm happy the White Sox have a shot.

Thanks, good of you to be so forgiving. Frankly, as long as its not the Yankees winning the Series, I'm happy. :)

Can you believe that the White Sox have actually been cursed longer than the Red Sox?

I hadn't remembered that fact until this year! Only one year older. Must be something about the "Sox" part....

I always figured you were a very, very casual Cubs fan, Wolf. I guessed wrong.

My father took me to Comiskey Park one day long ago, and I've been a very, very casual White Sox fan ever since. Knowing him, it might have been a conscious decision to stand with the blue-collar team against the Yuppies of Wrigley.

Later, I mostly I enjoyed tweaking my high school friends, who were sad and bitter Cubs fans.
