Engineer/Redneck Hybrids

Some technologies are so simple and yet so powerful. Witness, the pumpkin-tossing trebuchet that brought the record back to Washington state.

Medievalism never goes out of style. But I think the ancient models probably weren't called "Gourdinator".

Hysterically funny.

I especially liked the comment made by one of the team members: "We have a nice cross between engineers and rednecks".

You can't make this stuff up.

But where are the photos of this ground-breaking (er, gourd-breaking) event?

They are in the Skagit Valley Herald, of course. Behold, the Gourdinator!

Our household comes to a screeching halt every year to watch Punkin Chunkin on TV. This generally has unfortunate side effects involving small boys flinging pears and tomatoes around the house with improvised catapults and trebuchets, but it's worth it. Punkin chunkin RULES!!!

Argggh!! No one told me it's on TV!

What enlightened channel of TV geniuses brings this sublime entertainment to the masses?
