Looking for Fantasy Artist

I'm looking for a fantasy artist interested in working with the Open Design project. This is most likely an opportunity for a younger artist looking to break into the market or an established artist who wants a chance to experiment, or to create a print/portfolio piece.

The upsides are that
  • the artist has wide creative freedom, working off a title or concept rather than micromanaging art direction. Because I'm not an art director.

  • the work will be published in a major industry magazine

  • I'm buying second rights or first electronic rights — so the majority of the image rights stay with the artist
The downsides are
  • the pay is not robust

  • the final version will be electronic-only, rather than printed
If you have a recommendation (or if you are an interested artist!), please send a name, samples or a pointer to a web gallery, and contact information care of this blog's user info.

Beer is my only excuse.

Thanks for the pointer!

Actually, the options could be described as fantasy, but not necessarily. One's more steampunk, one could be done in dark Celtic style, and one has a lot of pulp/indiana jones flavor to it.

Sounds cool.

Shoot me an email at gabechouinard@gmail.com

And hey, cloudscudding - thanks for the pointer!

Hello!

I'm definitely not an established artist (for instance, I'm currently using DeviantArt as a stand-in), but it sounds like a fascinating project. I'd welcome a chance to have more of my work published.

I have a gallery of primarily black and white illustration at http://pachycrocuta.deviantart.com/, and can be contacted at JonServal@aol.com. Please let me know what you think!

(Additionally, I know that I'm past the July cutoff point for submissions, but wanted to point things out in case there were still any opportunities.)

Well, we're just now getting to the interior art stage. So I'll add your name to the list, and ask my patrons to choose an artist soon (by the end of the month).

Thanks!

I like the fact that there's a certain ghoul necromancer with ghoul lantern and hand of glory in your gallery. Great choice of material. :)

That was the part of the adventure that was so utterly and completely cool I had to draw my own version! Now that I'm looking back on things, I'm quite embarassed by how technically poor "my own version" turned out.
