Writer's Weekend

Writer's Weekend was a success both the personal and professional level. I spoke on three panels, all rather well-received. The second panel, on "Building Scenes", with dthon went over especially well, with lots of compliments afterwards. Never underestimate the power of preparation.

On the flip side of that, I pitched my novel to Anne Groell on the spur of the moment (the old book, the new one isn't completed yet), and was asked to send a partial. Not bad for a book that's been off my radar for at least 6 months.

And finally, I sat at the (tasty) banquet with keynote speaker Jo Beverly, who gave a terrific address on the "Writer's Mind". I'd heard her speak previously, at the Bellevue Library event on Thursday, and she knows how to command attention.

So, met good people, exchanged stories, and generally had a good time. Now, back to the keyboard; time to send that partial off to Bantam.

Anne's terrific (my successor at Spectra, in fact), but if she treats you badly, you just say the word. I've Got People. ::grin::

Good luck!

She was the soul of graciousness at the pitch.

We'll see what she has to say about the text, but my impression is she's a class act. So even a "no thanks" will probably be delivered with aplomb.
