Fire Up the Boilers

When Bruce F*&%^ Sterling writes a User's Guide to Steampunk, y'all better listen up. The man is a steampunk godfather.

The intro to the piece is incredibly lame, but once Sterling starts up his pitch, it's all astounding: straight to the culture, Ruskin, and what steampunk means and why it matters. Why the hell does he live in Belgrade, again? Oh, right, post-industrial cyberpunk. Beats Texas, anyway.

Hat tip to gmskarka!

Beats Texas, anyway.

Hey! Nothing beats a hopeless post-industrial cyberpunk feeling like the refinery-land of South East Texas.

But I digress, great article, thanks for posting it!

I suppose you are right. Thinking of my childhood as just one big LARP is much more palatable. :)

He's married to a Serbian lady, I believe.

That seems like a very good reason.
