No Sleep

At first, I thought my insomnia had gotten to hallucinogenic proportions. It was game 6, Cubs vs. Marlins, and the Cubs made it through seven innings. Surely, thought I, the Apocalypse is nigh. If the Cubs win, and play the Red Sox, the Seventh Seal is surely doomed.

And then they totally folded, betrayed by one of their own fans. Of course. The S-J Mercury News is recommending the Witness Protection Plan for the guy.

At least we've avoided that whole messy Rapture, when the Cubs ascend bodily into the heavens. Sing Hallelujah!

Well, at least the Sox will make it. And they'll crush the Marlins, and my dad will finally rest in peace.

Best of all, I'll no longer have to use some derivative of the word "fuck" every time I mention fucking Bill Buckner.

GO SOX!!!

When I wrote that, the Cubs were down 3-0. Now they're tied, 3-3, so the Dream Series still has a chance.

I'm praying to Jebus for Cubs-Red Sox - Sox in 7.

GO SOX!!!

A Cubs-Sox series would have been just over the top ubercool. But it is not to be. It looked like the Cubs might pull it together tonight, and then I heard the lamentations of the faithful.

As an occasional White Sox fan, all I can say to the Cubs fans is "Sorry, guys." So darn CLOSE.

At least now there'll be a clear favorite in the Marlins-Red Sox World Series. Because, seriously, who outside of the state of Florida would honestly cheer for the Marlins?

And besides, the Cubs fans should've just been glad to win the NLDS - that's more than they've accomplished in years.

Just remember, there's always next year. And with Wood and Prior, there'll be plenty of next years to come.
