Screenwriting

I am bored with writing game materials; I burned through a 45,000 word project in 10 weeks, and it was relatively easy, very familiar terrain. Too easy. Too comfortable. Boring.

So, of course, I'm dinking around with a treatment that might become a full-blown screenplay, not that I know ANYTHING about writing screenplays. Actually, it's an adaptation of a book that my wife doesn't care for, but that I enjoy writing a great deal, called "Monkey King". It's one of those urban fantasy type deals that Gaiman and Martin and others have done so often, but with an Oriental spin. I'm fairly sure it's a better book than movie, but it's still fun to experiment a little.

I'm so NOT moving to Hollywood.

Monkeys rock!
Oooh, that sounds like fun! And I'm impressed as hell about writing a book-length (almost) project in that quick schedule.

I've been thinking about writing a "treatment" (don't you love these terms?) for a humor/adventure TV show about a private investigator chick. Haven't started writing anything yet, but Kij and I have been chatting up potential episodes. Much fun! Even though it has no monkeys.

Private investigators rock! It sounds like a hit to me. So when are you moving to Hollywood?

Liked Monkey
Actually, I liked the original Monkey King. I just don't get excited about a modern day book about this. Maxine Hong Kingston's already done it and I've already read it. I'd much, much rather reach the Venetian Magic Renaissance adventure that you've been working on for years.
The wife unit,
