A Language Without Nouns or Verbs

If you care about linguistics at all, check out the Economist's overview of Dr. David Gil's study of Riau Indonesian, a language without a distinction between noun or verbs. Furthermore, verbs tense in Riau Indonesian is optional; you don't need to specify whether something is happening in the past, future, or present. Maybe it's because I'm bi-lingual, but I've always been fascinated with the way language affects what you think and how you think about it. In fact, that's one of the most enjoyable parts of Snow Crash for me.
