Happy Birthday Howard Phillips

Many of the hard-core geeks are at Gen Con this weekend, so I'm picking up the slack…

Howard Phillips Lovecraft (1890 to 1937) was the author of many weird tales, the most famous of which is "The Call of Cthulhu" (in Weird Tales, 1928). His most enduring contribution to horror fiction is the set of stories and novels that formed the basis of the "Cthulhu Mythos." These stories were picked up by other authors such as August Derleth and Clark Ashton Smith, as well as Robert E. Howard and Brian Lumley. In a sense, it's the first shared world.

It's his 124th birthday today. Shamble over to the non-Euclidean portal nearest you and wish his disembodied brain the best.
