Not Writing

I managed to spend the whole day not working on the short story. I mowed the lawn, cut some lumber for baseboards, shopped for dinner, grilled dinner, read some background materials for the short story, read a book for review, organized some research notes, and talked to brainstormfront on the phone for a while. I unloaded and reloaded the dishwasher, cleaned off all the junk on "my" writing desk, and tried to negotiate the sale of a ton of CCG cards. I even hung a painting.

It's amazing how productive I can be and still feel like I got nothing done.

Bah. Tomorrow will be better.

O brother, do I know that feeling! Stupid Type-A personality (at least that's what they tell us).

Bad Monkey King.

No donut.

;)

Then again, I didn't get any writing in yesterday, as I got sucked into reading a book a friend loaned me: Morning of the Magician, a book originally printed in 1960 in France and rather fascinating for a number of reasons we discussed on the phone yesterday (not the book, the consciousness and magical topics therein).

Today will be a better day from the novel standpoint as I've got a cake made this morning and I don't get to have a piece until I've written at least 2000 words.... :S

Well, I got about 800 words in and got really hungry so I cracked and had a small piece. Luckily, there's still enough time to get some real writing in. I'm just getting bogged down in tracking down previous references so I can get it all settled in my head so I don't make any snafus in terms of details being off. Still, getting a little bit on paper today, despite these interruptions of flow and concentration. ;)
