Frostburn, my most recent project for Wizards of the Coast, seems to have finally shipped. It's a game book all about the arctic tundra, frozen wastes, and boreal forests, also known as "the Siberia book."

I wrote it last year, in collaboration with bigfootcountry and George Strayton. There are some really rather satisfying reviews of it out already, one at d20 Magazine Rack, one in the EN World Forums, and another at Amazon, that all say nice things about the monster section. Since that's the chunk I wrote (well, plus a few spells like "Iceberg" and other bits and bobs), I'm inordinately pleased to see it's getting the big thumbs-up from online fans.

I expect author copies will show up in a few weeks. It feels retro-good to see my name on a WotC project again. Not sure when that might happen again.

Yup! It's cool to finally have it out on the shelves, and with a couple of good early reviews to boot! Yay us! :-)

I had a good time working with "Raiders of the Black Ice" too, so any time you get the adventure-writing bug in your bonnet again, let me know.

Which reminds me, in a roundabout way, of the time I ran "Kingdom of the Ghouls" (which is one of my favorite adventures from Dungeon, by the way! Great stuff!). I used it to playtest one of the early versions of the 3.0 D&D rules, and one of the players had a monk who got a big kick out of showing off his new "immune to disease" powers by rolling around in a tub full of disease-infected rot grubs. Ah, the memories!

My group's been really impressed with Frostburn. My Eberron heading northward, and my intermitten Greyhawk game is set to play through Raiders of the Black Ice when next we meet. Good stuff!

Man, I look forward to the day that I can write a livejournal comment without coming off like I'm touched in the head....

Glad you enjoyed working on "Raiders." I've got another in the works, which is distantly related to "Raiders of the Black Ice." It won't be written for a while yet, though.

And I'm glad to hear you liked "Kingdom" as well. That monk player sounds like quite an amusing guy. And rolling around in disease-infected rot grubs is so very "Fear Factor" — I guess 3E was ahead of that particular curve, eh?
