Burn Party Wrapup

We threw a burn party last night, and it was a noisy little success, with top-shelf company and tunes. I was concerned that the "You must burn this CD before you can attend" theme of the party, but folks showed up with great stuff. Shelly made some chai cupcakes and buttermilk vanilla cupcakes that were fresh out of the oven. I burned some stuff on the fly in response to requests. Much musical discussion ensued, plus of course discussion of the new rollerball team we've got locally, the Rat City Rollergirls.

jadefalcon14 brought some strong (industrial-strength?) industrial, quizro and his lovely Angela (whose LJname I didn't catch) brought oddball stuff like Mission of Burma and Israel Kamakowiwo'ole and a cover of St. Swithin's Day, and John and Janice brought anime tracks and a band from Buffy named Hepburn, and C and ironymaiden brought two mighty mixes on a jump drive. Mike and Evon brought a DVD burn that has to be seen to be appreciated (think Public Service Announcement of the 40s). David "Zeb" Cook attended in spirit with some superfine burns sent up from Cali. All worthy stuff, though I think my own tastes run closest to quizro's. Well, and jadefalcon's. And I'm not surprised that ironymaiden is a Leonard Cohen fan and knew all the details of the indy Cohen tribute album. Ok, they were all impressive.

Uh...yeah! :-)

So, if we have lunch this week (maybe, say, Thursday?) and I bring a couple of mix discs for you can we trade? I'd love your "Best of Mash-ups" and the "Beatlesesque" discs. Whaddaya think?

Sure, that works.

I'm truly bummed that we couldn't make it. I really wanted to get a copy of your mashup cd. A month or so you posted some places to download them, can you repost?

Sounds very interesting!

Also, don't you mean jadefalcon14?

I will trade you a rockabilly comp CD for a copy of that mash-up one. Interested?
Apr. 25th, 2005 03:06 pm (UTC)
Sure, works for me.

I'll get to work on that. Gotta find a good time for me to use my friend's CD burner. I'll let you know when it's on the way.
