Publisher's Dim Sum

Nothing is quite so satisfying as a chance to talk shop with an editor who knows what he's doing. Shelly and I went out for lunch with Dave at Noble Court, a great Eastside Dim Sum restaurant (and here I thought they only served dim sum on weekends).

We talked novels, we chewed over the Westeros articles that Shelly and I have been writing and rewriting for, well, months. The final articles are terrific, but given the amount of effort that went into them, they better be.

Okay, now you have me curious.
Anything you can share about these Westeros articles, since it sounds like it is Game Of Thrones related, which is always a good thing.

Re: Westeros
Sure, it was announced in themost recent issue of Dungeon that a future issue will contain some articles about "Game of Thrones," turning it into RPG stuff for Dragon magazine.

The lunch today was a chance for me to talk over some of those articles with the editor who is doing the interview of GRR Martin next week; we were sharing strategy and playing one-upmanship with how much we know about the next book, "A Feast of Crows." The articles, though, are just about the first three books.

There will be some stats for important NPCs, a prestige class, a new feat and new items. All kinds of D&D goodies.

Re: Westeros
Well, when you find out exactly when its coming out, please keep us posted, because that would be one magazine worth getting for sure.
Thanks for the info.

PS. Just what do you know about the next book?

Re: Westeros
I don't actually know as much as you might think. Dave has read a couple of chunks of material that have made the rounds for reviewers and other early readers. But since the articles are very consciously set at "End of Book 3" as their time period, I didn't ask for that extra material. It would just kill me to know it but not include it.

The minute that book appears, Shelly and I are probably going to read it in shifts. Sometime in April or May, maybe.
