My knowledge of Tupelo to that point was limited to music and geography: lyrics by the Proclaimers and the alt-country band Uncle Tupelo, and some vague idea that Mississippi was involved. I've visited Mississippi once and my local guide offered to show me the house of CSA President Jefferson Davis. I declined as politely as I could.
Apparently, though, Tupelo is not just a town in Mississippi. It's also a tree common in the South. A flowering swamp tree that makes the most delicious honey in the world. "Tupelo Honey." It's got a nice ring to it.
