The Ballard Bridge

I've lived in Seattle and its suburbs for more than 10 years, yet I've never taken the Ballard Bridge until today. I zipped over it in a bit of a daze, wanting to cross the bridge at about 10 mph, because what no one ever told me about it is that it goes almost directly over the fishing fleet — dozens and hundreds of working boats. I knew that they existed — all that sushi has to come from somewhere. But seeing them all is something else again. The maritime character of the city, for me, was always defined by the ferries, the marinas, and the cranes on Harbor Island.

I want to go back on a sunny day with a camera, a tripod, and a big orange sign saying "Lane Closed -- Merge Left".

Re: and today you missed seeing the mountains!
Floating Leaves Tea a little further down Market (no wifi and no coffee but great tea and atmosphere) or Mr Spot's on Leary right by Bergen Place. Mr Spot's does have live music some evenings, but otherwise it's peaceful.
