I changed from an amateur to a professional… which is to write even when you don't want to, don't much like what you are writing, and aren't writing particularly well.

now, with content...
A friend of mine (also still trying to sell her first novel) said to me about a year ago that we were professionals, just unpaid professionals, because we had deadlines (granted, our own), and worked diligently on the good days and the bad days.

IE, we had a professional work ethic. We weren't just getting paid for it.

That's what this quote reminds me of.

Yeah, I've been having a string of bad days, with deadlines breathing down my neck and lots of family obligations and .... someone's still gotta make the words.

So, I plod on. I think, given the number of books you've written, you're definitely in the "professional" category. Work ethic is so hugely important, and you've got it.
