Pharoah's Heart: New Campaign Launched

I kicked off a new D&D game tonight, with seven players and a whole new batch of characters in Ancient Egypt. We're using some Hamunaptra material, including the asari (halflings), ptahmenu (egyptian dwarves), and the sutekhra (gnomes, very charismatic). If I had to summarize the evening in movie terms, it was "City Slickers" meets the Bronze Age.

First sessions are always dicey, as everyone is trying out new material, but I think everyone got to show off their character's strengths. Well, except possibly irishninja, who had an incredible run of bad die rolls — unfortunate, but something to overcome next time. Highlights of the evening include Jeff Grubb's impersonation of shellyinseattle's character, and sigtrent's impersonation of the Jack Palance type: gruff and wise as the grizzled old trail boss. Mind you, he's a trail boss with monstrous scorpion at his beck and call…

In any case, it's a deliberately short campaign, and they're about 1/6 of the way done already. I've been trying a bit of an experiment with the narrative style, with a formal introduction at the start of the session. Seems to have kicked things off in a hurry, which was the goal.

Glad to hear the campaign is off to a good start, though I'm a bit sad to hear about irishninja's unlucky streak.

Incidentally, I'm a friend of his, and also of peartreealley. I hope you don't mind me friending this journal to keep track of their travails.

*seethes with jealousy at your RPG group*

I'm going to post about our weekend RPG experience later, whereafter you'll understand that statement better. kistha could probably already guess some of it, as I've ranted about our continuing player problems to her more than once in the past.

Sorry to hear it. A bad RPG group can be a real pain.
