I'm sort of with you, actually. It seems super-shallow and totally lightweight.

But a few people I care about are fans. So, to keep up with them.... I join yet another social network.

Can Facebook be far behind?

AhHA! So that *is* you that Twitter emailed me about. One presumes there can be only one Monkey King, but one wants to be sure.

I use Twitter as a sort of data collection device thru'out the day. Because i usually update via text message, it's a great way to simply remind myself of something i want to think about or re-consider later. Would i remember that yesterday i'd read about pepper plants and bird poop yesterday without Twitter? ... Well, bad exmaple: that's interesting enough that i probably would. But by having noted it / Twittered it, i'm far more likely to remember it. So i guess, for me, it's kind of like note-taking. And, yeah, i could dig in my bag and drag out my notebook & pencil, but my phone's always easier to reach and by putting it out there on Twitter where others can see, i'm forced to put my thought into some sort of coherent form.

I will admit that i find it entirely aggravating when a person's Tweets consist primarily of "1st coffee of the day," "filing is boring," and so forth. Why must the internet be so *dull*?

Well, yeah. :D

If it's any comfort, I haven't yet made a MySpace account, and I've still only heard of FaceBook and don't actually understand what it is ;)
