Living La Vida Dorka

Stupid quizzes, I cannot resist them. This one is all spazzychic's fault.

Just to increase the Evil Quotient of this post, I've thrown a Geek Test into the icon space. If you recognize the icon, you are definitely One of Us. First one to name the critter and its first published appearance wins a prize.

And yet quite a flirt, or so I'm told. :)

Marrashi, based on an ancient Sumerian/Babylonian/Akkadian demon, IIRC...
Mar. 11th, 2004 05:06 pm (UTC)
Damn... er, first published appearance? Crap.

Latest was in 3E MMII. I don't recall it being in AD&D 1E MMII. I think it was either in the Outer Planes or Al Qadim Monstrous Compendium Appendix for AD&D 2E...
Mar. 11th, 2004 06:36 pm (UTC)
You're in the right general era, namely 2nd Edition. And yet, it wasn't either Outer Planes or the AQ MC. I may have to split up the prize.

Guess I should set a deadline for entries. Lessee, noon on Sunday.

Monstrous Compendium 1. Of course, it's not really fair, as I looked that up...

But then again, just knowing where to look for such information is geek enough, methinks... (^_^)

I guess I've fallen behind on my innate AD&D 2E knowledge since I sold my whole collection (to help buy 3E stuff, natch).

Bzzzzzzt! I feel like an evil RPG game show host.

It appeared somewhere else before MC1. Call me the king of obscurity. I'd up the prizes, but I appear to have only one contestant. I kinda figured haetmunky might chime in, actually.
Mar. 11th, 2004 09:47 pm (UTC)
Ow, spanked by the monkey king! (^_^)

I'm gonna have to find this, or it's just going to drive me nuts.

Predated MC 1, eh? And yet it was a second edition intro... hmmm...

Only thing I can come up with off the top of my head is... Old Empires or... one of those dratted Horde products. I'm thinking Horde. Storm Riders, Black Courser, or Blood Charge, if not in the boxed set itself. And if it's nopt those... then damn, ya got me.

If only I hadn't sold all that 2E stuff... grrr...
Mar. 11th, 2004 09:59 pm (UTC)
MU-wha-HA-ha! King! Of! Obscurity!

Actually, I'm not sure it preceded MC1. Publishing order isn't my strong suit. I think it preceded Planescape MC. Not Horde, though that's pretty close. AQ MC was closer.

Answer on Sunday.

And really, what were you going to do with all that 2E stuff? New editions are nature's way of cleansing gaming libraries.
Mar. 11th, 2004 10:46 pm (UTC)
Well, the AQ MC (1992) did come out before Assassin Mountain (1993), if that's what you might be thinking... (pulling at straws here...)
Mar. 14th, 2004 02:41 pm (UTC)
And the winner is....
hygelakthedread wins, as the answer is "Assassin Mountain". Sneaky me, it was my first standalone, single author project and I still have a fondness for it despite its (obvious in retrospect) flaws.

Three issues of "Knights of the Dinner Table" and/or "The Black Hand" will be sent to you to further your depth of gaming knowledge. Send me a mailing address at wDOTbaurATcomcastNOSPAMPLEASEnet and they'll be on their way.
