Waiting and Waiting

From what I can tell, and I've been tracking it since 5 o'clock Pacific, it's all about Ohio. And the Republicans have decided that lawyers, not people, will decide the outcome in Ohio.

The monorail recall went down in flames. I guess the rest of the country can wait until the morning.

Monorail recall went down in flames meaning it got voted "No"?

Correct. It seems to be failing by a roughly 60 to 40 margin. Much wider than the last monorail vote, as a matter of fact. People are getting antsy about it.

And I saw Mayor Nickels on TV finally coming out in favor of the monorail. Now that his support is no longer meaningful or timely. Grrrr.

I hate how spineless politicians are.

It was always about Ohio this time around. (else we wouldn't have had british people sending letters to the 'undecided voters' in the damned state.)

As to the lawyers...? Sorry darling... check your facts, the liberal media (and the leftist UK rags) are reporting that Kerry/Edwards are sending in lawyers, not Bush/Cheney.

Over here they were reporting last night (2amish) that the general feeling was that it didn't matter who was elected, the next 12 months will be the same either way. (Interesting take from a group who wanted Kerry elected, though I gather it was more of a 'fuck you, Bush' than 'go John Kerry, we love you')

More to the point, it is shaping up that Bush has a 4M vote lead for the popular vote.

And really... are you surprised? I'm not.

[though I wish Badnarik had won. Ah well.]

Re: watching...
Yeah, I am surprised. What kind of nuts vote for bigger deficits, more cronyism, and yet more senseless slaughter of American GIs? I guess I gave the American people too much credit.

My only consolation is that, in a democracy, the people always get the government they deserve.

Re: watching...
I would have to believe that, on some level, some of the nuts *know* that they are willfully blind, to use one useful term of art I picked up in law school.
